Exploring New Town

I live on the Southside, which is closest to Old Town. Old Town is where the castle and Royal Mile are, and it's all made up of winding streets, quaint pubs, tiny gift shops, and museums. New Town is a little more north, and it's where we can find modern stores, such as GAP, electronics distributors, and Topshop. All of the following photos were taken along Princes Street, which is one of the main roads in New Town-- one side of the street has stores, and the other side is a beautiful green park called Princes Street Gardens. The photo above is the view of the castle from the gardens.

At the top of this photo, there is a plant clock! It actually tells the time of day.

This last photo is to show that I'm on the masthead at the student newspaper here now! I'm under copy editors. I'm learning a lot as a copy editor for a Scottish newspaper, because many things are spelled differently and even their grammar style has small differences from what I'm used to. The staff of the paper is made up of a really great group of people and it's fun to work for such an organized, thorough, heavily-staffed paper for a change.

I've been trying to visit Scotland for years, but each time the stars aligned against my plans.
So I just have to tell you, good luck in your new living, enjoy it and beautiful photos, I'm waiting for more.
